At Paul Sadler Swimland, our swimming lessons focus on teaching deep water survival skills. No matter your age or skill level, enrolling in our swim lessons could be one of the best decisions you make!

We teach survival skills at every level. We spend a minimum of 10 minutes per lesson in deep water, where we teach treading water, deep water recovery (safety circle) and mobility on front and back until children have achieved 2 minutes treading water. Our unique approach facilitates accelerated progression, with the aim of having every child in our swim school learning to be safer as soon as possible.

While every child should be supervised around water, arming your children with the swimming skills to save themselves, in the event they‘re in a dangerous or life-threatening situation, is something that our customers are extremely grateful for.

World-class Swimming Lessons

At Paul Sadler Swimland we offer swimming lessons with a focus on survival skills in Australia. In 1972, our founder Paul Sadler turned his hand to teaching swimming classes that were inspired by his love of swimming (being an avid swimmer himself) and also being a trained teacher. In the 70s there was an influx of backyard swimming pools and with it an increase in the number of childhood drownings. Paul realised there was an opportunity to combine his skills and reduce the risks of drowning by helping every child learn the necessary skills to be safer in the water.

Over the years, Paul developed the premise of teaching swim lessons with a focus on survival skills. This foundation on teaching more than just stroke development has remained in place even as the program has evolved over the past 50 years.  Now, Paul Sadler Swimland has a world-leading learn to swim program that is run by a great team of swimming teachers who help children and adults of all ages engage in stress-free learning and grow a passion for the water, every day.

What our swimmers say about our swim classes

They teach children to swim and survive in water properly. In a previous council run swim school our son was kept in a class that was well below his skill level as there was no structure to the class. Paul Sadler has challenged both our kids and made them much better and confident swimmers, communication with parents regarding kids progress is excellent and allows us to discuss areas of improvement with the kids so they can progress.

Thank you for the wonderful experience today. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were welcoming, helpful, and well organised. Ms. Megan, who conducted the assessment, was professional, patient, and encouraging, making the session enjoyable for both of my children.

The assessment process was clear and well explained, with thoughtful recommendations for each child’s learning level. My children felt confident and motivated, and we were very pleased with the overall approach and support.

Thank you to the entire team for creating such a positive environment. We look forward to our children starting their swimming.

Narre Warren / January 2026

My children are ACTUALLY learning to swim. Seems crazy to say, but in other schools, our kids were bored and not progressing. PS classes are fun, progressive, and the pool is clean and well-maintained. The staff are always so friendly.

Altona / November 2025

Everyone knows the kids names and everyone goes above and beyond to help whether it be rearranging classes or lending special googles to subborn 5 year old who forgot hers and wont swim.

Braybrook / November 2025

My boy was struggling with level 3 class, and we were offered the transition to happy swimmer 1 on 1 class to rebuild his confidence. This initiative was a relief since classes were becoming stressful to get him to participate in.

Carrum Downs / November 2025

The teachers are trained well and engaging with the children. The group size hasn’t been too big so they can focus on the children & they don’t get bored. The pool is warm and the teachers are patient and fun!

Essedon / November, 2025

The Hoppers Crossing centre is just fantastic! What I love most is how the teachers make every lesson so fun and engaging for the kids. You can really see their confidence in the water grow week after week. The whole team is super friendly, and the facilities are always so clean and welcoming. It’s the perfect, positive place for our family to learn such an important life skill. Highly recommend

Hoppers Crossing / November 2025

I found Paul Sadler provides a safe and controlled environment for the kids. Also, the staff members are very polite and demonstrate great swimming skills as a trainer. There is onsite and on phone staff members available for parents in case they have any queries. I found the amenities provided onsite are also well maintained and the pool and toilets are clean. The trainers and pool staff always greets parents with a smile. Trainer uses water toys, rhymes to make pool sessions more friendly for kids and interactive so that they can enjoy while they learn.

Laverton / November 2025

We love seeing the children progress and get challenged within each level! I know that if they are finding anything difficult, the teachers and deck supervisors are highly approachable and more often than not, they are spotting them struggling before we are! We love the close knit feeling between the staff, the kids and us!

Melton / November 2025

We like Paul Sadler Swimland as they focus on survival skills, like treading water in actual deep water (not ‘pretend’ in a pool the child can stand in). While there is a focus on skills, my child always had fun and is proud of his accomplishments.

Mickleham / November 2025

Fantastic swim school. Very structured, and my son has learned very quickly here compared to other programs. I like that the lessons are 30mins and there’s no downtime.

Narre Warren / November 2025

The gorgeous staff! No secret that “great service “ makes the whole swimming lesson experience a fun one! Instructors that are qualified, resilient, patient, confident and capable which shows through my children’s ongoing improvements. Including the staff at reception desk who consistently show excellent people/social skills.

Parkwood Green / November 2025

We love Paul Sadler because the teachers are absolutely fantastic. When my child started less than two years ago, they were genuinely fearful of the water. Now they swim with confidence, like a little fish! The patience, skill, and encouragement from the teachers have made all the difference. Their consistent support has not only built strong swimming skills but also a real love for the water. I honestly attribute this transformation entirely to the brilliant team at Paul Sadler Ringwood.

Ringwood / November 2025

We love that everyone is very friendly and supportive and the teachers are fantastic with our daughter who is a hard one to crack at times. Our daughter loves going to class every week and she has progressed so much since starting about 18 months ago. We are so impressed with how each class is run so efficiently and that there’s little to no “idle” time between each skill.

Frequently Asked Questions

While we advocate that your child should be constantly supervised and within an arm’s reach when they’re around deep water, we understand that sometimes accidents happen. Helping your child become a safer swimmer is a crucial life-skill and statistics show that participating in regular formal lessons decreases the risk of drowning by up to 88%. At Paul Sadler Swimland, we’re here to help!

We understand that kids swimming lessons can be life-saving, but they are also LOTS of fun. From baby swimming lessons through to our kids learn to swim programs, we approach each lesson with the goal of helping children develop important swimming and survival skills in an exciting, engaging, and stress-free way.

We recommend that children attend at least weekly lessons to help build their confidence in the water and develop their swimming skills. For further information about our kids swimming lessons, check out our parent/ child program for children aged 4 months to 3 years, or our learn to swim program for children over 3 years old.

Participating in a swimming lesson isn’t just for children. According to recent research, 1 in 4 adults in Australia have limited swimming experience or are unable to swim at all. To help remedy this statistic, we offer adult swimming lessons at our locations.

At Paul Sadler Swimland we believe that swimming is for everyone and that no one needs to be embarrassed of their skill level. Our team will treat you with the kindness, empathy, and respect that you deserve as you learn to swim or refine your technique.

No matter your age or skill level, Paul Sadler Swimland can help you make significant progress in the pool and become a confident swimmer.

Some swimmers need a little extra support to gain their water confidence and develop their skills. At Paul Sadler Swimland we ensure that every swimmer is able to learn and progress at their own pace, but we are also conscious of the extra care required by any special needs swimmers in our classes.

Our team has great experience ensuring swimmers with special needs feel supported in the swimming pool, and engaged throughout every lesson. We also offer private lessons for any swimmers who need that one-on-one interaction as they learn.

For the best swimming lessons, book now at Paul Sadler Swimland!

When you book in to our swimming lessons for children aged 3 and up, the first step we take is to sign your child up to a free swimming assessment. The reason we assess our swimmers is to ensure that they will be placed in the most appropriate class for their current skill level.

Our swim instructors assess swimmers by observing factors such as:

  • Their confidence in the water
  • Their motor skills
  • Their swimming strokes
  • Their survival skills

While these factors are considered for our Learn to Swim program, in our Parent/ Child program, a swimmer’s age-group plays an important role in the level they are placed in.

Once a child is in a level, they will be assessed each lesson by our team until they are deemed to have mastered the skills of their current level. We allow our swimmers to build confidence at their own pace, and do not force them to progress through the levels before they are ready, nor will they hang around in a level waiting for a set amount of time. When children are ready they will be moved to the next level.

At Paul Sadler Swimland we are members of the Australian Swim Schools Association, the International Swim Schools Association (ISSA), and the United States Swim School Association. We also have more than 25 industry awards, with our most recent achievement being our founder Paul Sadler’s induction into the Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association Hall of Fame (ASCTA).

Our times and days vary depending on our location, but across the board our classes run all year round (45 weeks of the year), closing occasionally for pool maintenance, public holidays and Christmas. Check out the location pages to see specific operating hours and lesson times of the centre near you.
